 A través de este enfoque, se alienta a los estudiantes a tomar posesión de su aprendizaje y desarrollar las habilidades de pensamiento crítico, colaboración y resolución de problemas del mundo real.

  • What is a charter school?
    Charter schools are public schools operating under an independent contract or “charter” with an authorizing agency. Do & Be Arts Academy of Excellence is authorized by the Nevada State Public Charter School Authority. The charter provides the school with operational autonomy to pursue specific educational objectives regarding curriculum, staff, and budget. Charter schools are public schools that are held accountable to the same standards as traditional district public schools.
  • How do I enroll my child?
    There is an enrollment period when parents can submit their applications to attend. If there are more applications submitted than seats available, we will hold a randomized blind lottery. There are no admission requirements, entrance exams, or tuition fee to attend our school. If you want to get on our enrollment list before spots fill up, fill out our enrollment form.   • Is there tuition to attend Do & Be?
    No. Do & Be is a public charter school, which are tuition-free, public schools.
  • What grades does Do & Be serve?
    Do & Be is a slow growth model, which means we will add two grade levels per year until we are a fully enrolled K–8 school. In our first year, we will offer seats in grades K, 1, and 2 for our elementary school and grade 6 for our middle school.
  • Where is the school located?
    The school building at 2401 E. Tonopah Ave, North Las Vegas, NV 89030 is set to open its doors July 2024.
  • What is Project-Based Learning?
    Project-based learning (PBL) is a dynamic classroom approach in which students actively explore real-world problems and challenges and acquire transferable knowledge. PBL helps students develop life skills like creative problem-solving and collaboration.
  • What will arts integration look like at school?
    The Kennedy Center defines arts integration as "an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form. Students engage in a creative process, which connects an art form and another subject area and meets evolving objectives in both." DBAE defines arts integration in academics as the integration of art forms such as music, visual arts, dance, media arts/film, and theatre into traditional academic subjects such as math, science, and language arts. This approach aims to enhance student learning by providing a more engaging and interactive learning experience.
  • Will DBAE use traditional curriculum?
    Yes, DBAE has selected the American Reading Company for its English Language Arts curriculum. For mathematics, we will utilize Illustrative Mathematics (Imagine Learning). To support the integration of arts into daily lessons, DBAE will employ the curriculum from The Institute for Arts Integration and STEAM. Additionally, for daily intervention and learning acceleration, I-Ready will be utilized.
  • Will there be transportation offered?
    We will do our best to place stops where families have most demand, but we cannot guarantee a stop in everyone’s neighborhood. We encourage families to coordinate car-pooling in the event that we are unable to place a stop near you.
  • When does school start and what is the daily schedule?
    First day of school is planned for 8/12/2024. Student have a Monday - Thursday bell schedule currently planned for 8:00am (first instructional period) to 3:30pm (dismissal). Wednesdays are half days students get out at 12:30pm. Please note these are subject to change as we finalize our schedule with the families we serve.
  • Will there be uniforms?
    DBAE will not require students to wear uniforms. There will be specific expectations for dress that will be enforced to ensure that all students can fully achieve their arts and academic goals. The purpose for our expectations is not to inhibit student expression, but rather to ensure that student learning time is respected and not unduly impacted by those who come to school dressed inappropriately for the work they are required to do. DBAE students will be required to dress in DBAE shirts or in a certain attire for school field trips or performances.
