DBAE Meal Program
At Do & Be Arts Academy of Excellence (DBAE), we are committed to supporting student health, wellness, and academic success. Healthy meals help students stay focused, energized, and ready to learn.
Our meal program is designed to:

Provide nutritious meals to students

Offer healthy food choices

Encourage students to try new foods

Follow all National School Breakfast and Lunch Program requirements
DBAE provides students with breakfast and lunch at no charge through the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs. Monthly menus will be available through the school and shared with families.
Healthy school meals include:

Lean protein
-
Whole grains
-
Fruits or 100% fruit juice

Vegetables
-
Milk
Meals are planned to meet federal nutrition guidelines, including limits on calories, sugar, sodium, saturated fat, and trans fat.
Students may not bring food that requires heating, refrigeration, or special preparation.

DBAE encourages families, staff, students, and community members to participate in the review and development of the school’s Wellness Policy. For more information, please contact the school office.
Summer Meals
When school is not in session, families may access free meals for children and teens through the Summer Food Service Program.

Allergies and Meal Modifications
Families must notify the school if a student has a food allergy or needs a meal modification. A completed Meal Modification Form must be submitted with documentation from a licensed medical professional.
Meal modification forms must be renewed each school year. (Contact the school office for more information)

Smart Snack Requirements
DBAE promotes healthy choices throughout the school day. Snacks, birthday treats, classroom rewards, and celebrations must meet USDA Smart Snack guidelines or include non-food items.
Items such as cupcakes, ice cream, fast food, outside pizza, hot chips, and similar foods may not meet Smart Snack requirements. (Can only be celebrated on certain times throughout the year),
